About Us :-  Meghalaya Police is a law enforcement agency for Meghalaya state in India. In past it do its works under Assam police until 1972 when separate state of Meghalaya was created. Meg Police is headed by Director General of Police, its total sanctioned strength of Meghalaya police is 12,911 with an actual strength of 10,956. The headquarters of Meghalaya Police is at Secretariat Hill, Shillong. The main objective of Meg police is to emerge as the trusted, dependable and resolute law enforcement agency, maintain public order through community participation, prevent the commission of offences and public nuisance etc. 

The main occupation of the people of East Khasi Hills is agriculture, although a few small scale and medium scale industries have recently come up. The Government owned Cement Factory at Mawmluh near Sohra, stone and sand quarrying, coal and lime stone mining give other limited occupations. The popular festivals of the Khasis we “Shad Suk Mynsiem” (dance of joyful heart), observed in March or April. and Nongkrem Dance, a religious festival, observed at Smit in October or November. In the dances, both men and women are allowed to take part.
