The ration card is classified in four diverse categories based on the financial status of the family.
Types of cards are:
APL Card (Blue or Green Card) : APL card is given to Above Poverty Line people and whose yearly income is greater than Rs.10,000.
BPL Card (Pink): BPL card is given to Below Poverty Line people and whose yearly income is lower than Rs.10,000.
Anthodaya, Anna Yojana (AAY) (Yellow): These types of card is given to those who are poorest of the poor.
Annapoorna Card : These cards is given to those people who are not living with their children, are not working or not obtaining pension.

Below are some circumstances for gaining Ration Cards:
The applicant should be Indian Citizen.
The applicant should be head of the family.
In case of marriage or birth of a child applicant needs to submit the marriage certificate or the birth certificate respective to the case.
